Almost every firewood price around Collingwood and Wasaga Beach is quoted by the face cord, and almost none of them say how long the splits are. That single missing number changes the price by a third.

Two suppliers quoting the same face cord price are not quoting the same thing if one cuts to 12 inches and the other to 16. Ask for the split length before you compare, every time.

If you are working out how many cords the season needs before you price anything, that arithmetic is in how much firewood a cottage actually needs. A weekend cottage on a woodstove runs 1 to 3 face cords a season; a cottage heated by wood runs 4 to 6 or more.

We run firewood across South Georgian Bay from our Collingwood base. Delivery is included inside the areas below. Access, not distance, is what changes the job, so each area has its own notes.
Collingwood is our home base, so it is the shortest run we do and the one we can turn around fastest. The split here is between the harbour and downtown properties, where the constraint is usually where the wood can go rather than whether we can reach it, and the rural lots up toward Pretty River Valley and Nottawa where the driveway is the whole question. Town properties often have no obvious stacking spot that is both dry and close to the door, and a cord dumped in the wrong corner of a small lot becomes a two-year problem. We walk the property on the first delivery and agree the stack location before anything comes off the truck.
Same-week delivery most of the year. Book two weeks out from November onward.
Escarpment properties are the ones where access decides the price. Chalet driveways here are frequently steep, and from December they are frequently icy, which means a full truck either cannot get up or should not try. The answer is to deliver before the snow, not during it. Owners who order in September and October get the wood stacked under cover at the top of the drive; owners who call in January often get a delivery to the bottom of the drive and a carry, which costs more and takes longer. Craigleith and the Village corridor also skew toward chalets that burn hard for three months and nothing for nine, so a single autumn delivery usually covers the season.
Order by late October. Ski season demand and icy driveways both peak in January.
Thornbury and the Beaver Valley are a longer run for us and we schedule them as routes rather than one-off drops, so a day or two of flexibility on your side keeps the cost down. The local specific worth knowing is that valley properties around Clarksburg run measurably colder than Thornbury on the bay, five to seven degrees on a clear still night, which means valley owners burn more than they expect from one winter to the next. If you moved from the water to the valley, budget an extra half cord the first season and adjust from there.

Wasaga is about twenty minutes from us and the access problem here is the opposite of the escarpment: not slope, but sand. Beach area driveways are soft, and a loaded truck on a soft driveway in a wet spring or a thaw week leaves ruts you will be looking at all summer. We deliver Wasaga in dry conditions where we can and drop at the hard surface where we cannot. The other Wasaga factor is vacancy. Most properties here are empty from October to May, so wood needs to be stacked, covered, and off the ground properly, because nobody is going to move a tarp that blows off in December.

Clearview is on our daily route across the township, so Stayner in particular is easier to serve than the map suggests. Further out toward Creemore and Duntroon the driveways get long and the properties get harder to reach after a storm, which is the same reason we push Clearview owners to order early. Farmhouse-style properties out here also tend to have real outbuildings, which is a genuine advantage: a wood shed or a covered bay keeps a cord in far better condition than a tarp, and seasoned wood stored properly stays seasoned.
Stayner is on our daily route. Creemore and Duntroon are routed.
Meaford is the western edge of our delivery area and the longest run we make, so it is routed and we are honest that it is not a same-day service. The properties here are spread across a large township on rural lots, many of them genuinely isolated, and the practical consequence for firewood is that you want one larger delivery rather than several top-ups. If you are burning as a primary heat source rather than for a fireplace, tell us at the first delivery and we will size the order for the winter instead of the month.

Outside these areas, ask. We deliver further out when it fits a route, and we would rather tell you no than quote a delivery fee that makes a bush cord cost more than it should. Firewood is often bundled with a fall closing visit so the wood is stacked and covered before the cottage is shut for the season.
Seasoned hardwood: a mix of maple, oak, ash, and birch depending on local supply. Hardwood burns longer and hotter than softwood, which matters for a woodstove carrying a cottage through a cold Georgian Bay night. If you specifically want birch for an open fireplace look, ask and we will source it.
Yes. We deliver wood that has been dried to roughly 20% moisture or lower, which is the point where it lights easily, burns clean, and does not pack your chimney with creosote. For a winter delivery you need heat now, not wood that has to dry in your shed for a year, so we do not substitute green wood.
